Are you dissatisfied? That, my friend, is not a bad thing. It is a gift. It is a signal, perhaps a warning, that something needs to change.
There are things that we can change, and things that we cannot change. This distinction is so important. If you are dissatisfied about something you cannot change, dissatisfaction will only lead to frustration. Often you can change more that you’re willing to admit. If you are dissatisfied, the first question to ask yourself is “Can I change the situation?”. If the answer is no, then you have an opportunity to learn acceptance, patience and contentment.
If you are dissatisfied with something that you can change, then the question to ask is “Why haven’t I done something about it?”. Sometimes you need more clarity. What is truly causing you to be dissatisfied? Once you truly understand the source of the dissatisfaction, then it will be easier to determine what next action you can take to change the situation. Then you must do it.
One final note. Something that you can never change is other people. One thing that you can always change is yourself. Based on that, doesn’t it make the most sense to work harder on yourself and personal change than being frustrated trying to change other people? As you work on yourself and become better, your influence with others will grow stronger. Inspiration trumps motivation every time. Become better and be an inspiration. Give up the nagging and whining.
Dissatisfaction. Learn to appreciate this wonderful gift and use it wisely!!
