How often do you use the EXCUSE “I don’t have enough time”?
You protest. “That’s not an excuse! I really don’t have enough time to do everything I want to do.”
I want to challenge that thought. You are making yourself a victim to something that is out of your control. The truth is that you have as much time as everyone else. You have 24 hours a day – no more and no less. That does not change. If you want to get more done, you must change.
The first step is to understand what you really need. You DON’T need to manage time better because you can’t manage time. The don’t need more time, because there is no more time to have. What you need is to clarify and act on your top priorities. It is lack of clarity and action that causes supposed time management issues. If you will choose to drop the excuse of “I don’t have enough time”, then you will be free to solve your problems.
Once you identify what you want, and what you need to do to get what you want, your time management problem disappears, and you will be on your way to victory!
Here’s the process. Sit down with a blank sheet of paper and a pen and describe a problem that you want to solve in one sentence. Then then define what it will look like when that problem is solved and write that down in one sentence. Finally, identify the next action step that you need to take to move toward that ideal outcome, and take it.
Simple. Clarify the next action you need to take to move toward an ideal resolution, then take it. Simple. No new fancy app needed. No elaborate organizer. No 300-page book to read or multi-volume time management system. Just a piece of paper, a pen, and taking the next step. You don’t even need more will power. Just clarify and take the next step.
CLARITY + ACTION = RESULTS
