Indecision

Life presents us with choices and decisions. Perhaps you are currently facing a challenging decision. There is “YES”, there is “NO”, and there is also “NOT SURE”. The weakest position is “NOT SURE”. “Yes” and “No” define and move things forward. “Not sure” procrastinates the resolution.

Overwhelm and weariness are the fruit of indecision. The mind holds on to unresolved issues and seeks resolution over and over. Double mindedness creates instability and anxiety.

So what can you do when you can’t decide? It helps to get things out of your head and onto paper. First, describe the issue clearly in writing in one sentence. Then make two lists, one list of all the reasons for saying yes and moving forward, and a second list of all the reasons for saying no and not moving forward. You can never completely know the future. Just make your two lists, and if the pros outweigh the cons, say yes and get into action. If the cons outweigh the pros, then say no, put the issue behind you, and move on. If the decision is particularly heavy, it certainly helps to have an objective person help you make your lists and clarify your thoughts.

A clear mind functions well. Hard work is not what is making you tired, it is carrying unresolved issues in your mind. Your brain loves resolution!

Clarity + Action = Peace of Mind.
